PHÚ THỌ — Phú Thọ Police on Saturday caught two men in the act of transporting 300 packets of heroin weighing more than 1kg in Vân Cơ Commune, Việt Trì City.

The heroin was being transported in two cars by Vàng A Cáng, 42, and Vàng A Dự, 28, who both live in Tân Lập Commune, Mộc Châu District, the northern mountainous province of Sơn La.

The heroin, wrapped in a number of nylon bags, was hidden in five 30-litre plastic cans.

Dự admitted to the police that he and two other accomplices Mùa A Sáu and Màu A Là were hired by Cáng to transport the heroin for sale.

If successful, Dự would have received VNĐ200 million (US$8,800) whereas Sáu and Là would receive VNĐ100 million ($4,400) each.

Colonel Đỗ Văn Hoành, director of the provincial police, said that it was a new heroin trafficking ring, and the traffickers had researched the local area carefully. — VNS
