LÂM ĐỒNG — A Coast Guard delegation from HCM City and Lâm Đồng Province paid a pre-Tết (Lunar New Year) visit to Phú Quý Special Zone on February 5 to strengthen military-civilian ties.
The delegation was comprised of representatives of the Việt Nam Coast Guard Region No.3 Command and Lâm Đồng Province’s Party Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation.
It was led by Senior Colonel Cao Xuân Quận, Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region No.3 Command, who carried out a series of activities under the programme “Tết for Island Communities – Strengthening Military-Civilian Ties, Welcoming the Year of the Horse 2026.”
During the visit, the delegation extended New Year greetings to the Party Committee and People’s Committee of Phú Quý Special Zone, visited and encouraged officers and soldiers of armed forces units stationed on the island, and presented Tết gifts to policy beneficiary families and disadvantaged fishermen.

At each stop, Quận conveyed warm regards and best wishes for the New Year to local leaders, mass organisations, officers and soldiers, and island residents.
He also briefed local authorities on the Coast Guard Region No.3 Command’s key tasks and outstanding achievements in 2025, reaffirming the determination of its personnel to safeguard national sovereignty and ensure security and safety in Việt Nam’s seas and islands.
As part of the programme, the Coast Guard Region No.3 Command, in coordination with provincial and local authorities, organised a “Green Chung Cake Wrapping Contest” and a cultural performance entitled “Tết for Island Communities – Strengthening Military-Civilian Ties,” creating a joyful and festive atmosphere for island residents and service members alike.
On this occasion, the organisers presented 15 gift packages to families with meritorious service to the revolution, 15 to disadvantaged fishing households, and 20 to underprivileged students who have demonstrated strong academic performance.

The “Tết for Island Communities – Strengthening Military-Civilian Ties” programme is part of ongoing efforts to effectively implement the mass mobilisation initiative “The Coast Guard Accompanies Fishermen,” while preserving traditional cultural values, reinforcing solidarity between the armed forces and the people, and supporting residents in remote island areas to enjoy a warm and meaningful Lunar New Year.
The initiative also aims to raise public awareness and a sense of responsibility among all social groups in protecting Việt Nam’s sacred maritime sovereignty. — VNS
