Northern provinces of Cao Bằng, Lào Cai submerged and blocked by landslides

Due to the impact of Typhoon Bualoi’s circulation, heavy rains from 28 to 30 September caused flooding in many northern provinces, including Cao Bằng and Lào Cai, with several talus slopes collapsing.

CAO BẰNG — Due to the impact of Typhoon Bualoi’s circulation, heavy rains from the September 38 to 30 caused flooding in many areas of northern provinces of Cao Bằng and Lào Cai, with several talus slopes collapsing.

Schools and public facilities were inundated or damaged by landslides. In central wards, deep flooding blocked major roads, disrupting daily life. The Bằng River overflowed, flooding Phố Cũ, the Green Market, and the pedestrian street in Thục Phán Ward.

The Thục Phán Ward Military Command mobilised personnel and machinery to help residents evacuate their belongings on the night of September 29.

Meanwhile, in Lào Cai Province, heavy rains have caused widespread damage across many parts, resulting in severe losses of life and property. Local authorities and rescue forces are currently searching for the missing, assisting with evacuations, repairing the damage, and implementing measures to respond to the ongoing adverse weather conditions.
