BẮC NINH — An explosion has occurred at a paper company in Phú Lâm Industrial Cluster in the northern province of Bắc Ninh, resulting in one dead and two others injured.

The explosion occurred at around 10.30am Tuesday while workers were repairing and maintaining machinery at the Hưng Lợi Paper JSC in Phú Lâm Industrial Cluster, Tiên Du District.

Q.V.T, born in 1993 and residing in Chiềng Sơ Commune, Sông Mã District in the northern mountainous province of Sơn La, was killed, while two others were hurt.

The injured are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

The initial cause of the incident was a gas explosion.

The explosion caused one death and two injuries.

Immediately after the incident, the authorities in Bắc Ninh Province, Tiên Du District and Phú Lâm Commune urged relevant authorities to provide medical assistance to the injured, securing the site and investigating the cause of the incident.

In January, due to a lack of environmental permits as required by regulations, the Hưng Lợi Paper JSC was fined VNĐ320 million (US$12,810) and ordered to suspend the operation of waste-generating activities without an environmental permit for a period of four months. — VNS
