Alcohol involved in nearly 40 per cent of cases of evading, resisting traffic police

HÀ NỘI — Traffic police report 51 cases of people resisting on-duty officers nationwide in the first three months this year, an increase by 30 compared with the same period last year.

Twenty cases involved drivers that were found to be under the influence of alcohol, accounting for nearly 40 per cent.

A total of 21 traffic police officers were injured in the incidents.

The traffic police detained 55 people and handed them over to competent units according to regulations.

The Investigation Police Department has prosecuted 50 cases involving 54 people.

The incidents mainly happened on roads in urban areas and big cities such as Hà Nội (8), Thái Nguyên (8), Quảng Ninh (6), Lạng Sơn (4), Hải Phòng (2), Nghệ An (3) and Bình Định (3), and typically in the time between 1pm to 10pm. VNS
