Clean water systems for children

QUẢNG NAM — More than 2,500 children from kindergartens and primary schools in the mountainous districts of Tiên Phước, Quế Sơn, Nông Sơn and Phước Sơn in the Quảng Nam Province have access to drinkable clean water in the new school year thanks to the Lifestart Foundation, a philanthropic organisation.

The initiative aims to provide students and teachers with access to a dependable source of treated water, free of charge.

The project, which received total contribution of VNĐ454 million (US$18,000) from Lifestart, provides a safe and healthy sources of water for children at ten kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in four remote mountainous districts – where some communities still live in poor conditions.

Karen Leonard OAM, the visionary founder of Lifestart Foundation, expressed her concerns in the quality of daily water used by children in disadvantaged regions.

She emphasised that the clean water project remains a top priority for her organisation. Through the deployment of these water filtration systems, Lifestart Foundation not only addresses the immediate need for clean drinking water but also strives to enhance the overall water quality and well-being of students in remote schools in central Việt Nam.

In 2021 and 2022, Lifestart Foundation completed clean water systems for over 6,000 children in 18 schools in the province, with a total donation of more than VNĐ817 million ($32,000).

So far, it has allocated nearly VNĐ1.3 billion ($52,000) worth of clean water systems, benefiting more than 8,500 students and teachers in 28 schools throughout the province.

In total, Lifestart Foundation has donated VNĐ33 billion (approximately $1.28 million) to support the disadvantaged young people in the central region including education scholarships for underprivileged students and housing improvement projects.

It also donated milk to 200 disadvantaged families and orphanages in the central province, and Đà Nẵng City’s Paediatrics and Obstetrics Hospital. — VNS
