Six people detained and prosecuted for abduction of 16-year-old girl

The defendants said that the victim owed Tuấn and Hạnh money while working for them, and fled while the debt had not been cleared.

AN GIANG — Chợ Mới District Police on Monday announced a detention and prosecution order has been issued for six people involved in an illegal abduction of a 16-year-old girl.

The decision has been approved by the People’s Procuracy of the same level.

The six defendants are Danh Tuấn (born 1991), Trần Thị Hạnh (Tuấn’s wife, born 1998), Trần Văn Bảo (born 1991), Hồ Thanh Hậu (born 1993) from Kiên Giang Province; and Nguyễn Văn Đan Thuần (born 2006) and Trần Văn Quí (born 2006) from An Giang Province.

According to the investigation unit, at around 4pm on August 4, local people reported to Chợ Mới District Police that a woman on a motorbike was surrounded and taken away by a group of five people travelling in a seven-seater car in Mỹ Luông Town.

Chợ Mới District Police coordinated its criminal police department and Mỹ Luông Town Police, Hội An Town Police and border localities in Đồng Tháp Province to track down the vehicle.

The car was captured 30 minutes later in Lấp Vò District of Đồng Tháp Province.

The defendants said that the victim, identified as H.T.H.A (born 2007), owed Tuấn and Hạnh money while working for them, and fled while the debt had not been cleared.

Tuấn and Hạnh then gathered the other defendants to abduct A. and take her back to Kiên Giang Province to continue working to pay off the debt.

Further investigation is being carried out by Chợ Mới District Police. — VNS
