HCM CITY — Located in District 1 of HCM City, the city's Central Post Office has been named among the top 11 most beautiful post offices around the world, as compiled by Architectural Digest magazine of the United States.

The building ranked second on the list.

According to the magazine, the yellow facade and green shutters of the post office have turned the building into not only just a post office but a popular tourist attraction.

Located at 02 Công Xã Paris Street, Bến Nghé Ward, District 1, the structure was designed by French architect Villedieu and his assistant Foulhoux in the late 1880s in a European style boasting Gothic, Renaissance, and French influences combined with Asian decor.

It fascinates tourists with its typical colonial French features, ranging from exterior to interior decorations.

The post office offers many traditional postal services such as mailing, and selling postcards and stamps, whilst foreign money exchange is also available.

The city's Central Post Office today is one of the most well-known architectural works in the city. It has gradually become an indispensable tourist attraction in HCM City.

The unique beauty of the city's Post Office building has increasingly lured a large number of tourists thanks to its magnificent architecture.

Tourists come here partly to admire the unique architecture of the post office and partly to immerse themselves in the ancient world, from the post office boxes to phone booths.

The other post offices included in the list were Palacio de Correos of México, Los Angeles of the US, Madrid of Spain, Columbus of the US, James A. Farley of the US, Ragusa of Italy, Bonn of Germany, Kolkata of India, and Winslow of the US. — VNS
