ĐẮK LẮK – A group of armed men launched an attack on the police headquarters of two communes in the Central Highland province of Đắk Lắk on Sunday morning, with the number of deaths and injuries remaining unknown.
Leaders of Cư Kuin District’s Party Committee told Vietnam News Agency that as of Sunday noon, the authorities have successfully apprehended six individuals involved in the firearms attack on the communal police headquarters and have rescued two hostages.
Among the six arrested suspects, one was from Ayun Pa Town in Gia Lai Province; three were from Krông Búk District, and two were from Cư Mgar District in Đắk Lắk Province.
Earlier, on Sunday morning, Lieutenant General Tô Ân Xô, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, stated that according to the report from the provincial police of Đắk Lắk, in the early morning of Sunday, an unidentified group of individuals carried out a firearms attack on the police headquarters in Ea Tiêu and Ea Ktur communes.
Currently, the Ministry of Public Security has directed the provincial police and other relevant units to apprehend the suspected individuals.
The ministry has advised the residents of Cư Kuin District and nearby areas to remain calm, comply with the requirements of the local authorities and law enforcement agencies, and immediately provide information related to the suspects to the nearest police agency. – VNS
