NA concludes question-and-answer session

HÀ NỘI — The 15th National Assembly (NA) on Thursday successfully wrapped up a question-and-answer session as part of its fifth sitting after two-and-a-half days.

In his closing remarks, NA Chairman Vương Đình Huệ said apart from the four ministers who fielded questions within their remit, deputy prime ministers Trần Hồng Hà and Trần Lưu Quang, and the ministers of finance, planning and investment, and agriculture and rural development gave further explanations on issues regarding labour, invalids and social affairs, science-technology, transport and ethnic affairs.

Deputy PM Lê Minh Khái clarified issues within the Government’s power, and responded to questions raised by deputies.

Lauding the performance of the Cabinet members during the Q&A session, Huệ said the selection of the issues for the agenda is necessary, meeting the aspirations of people and voters.  

The chief legislator suggested the Government, ministries and agencies concertedly implement solutions after the meeting to create changes in the fields touched upon at the meeting.

He said during the next sitting slated for October this year, the legislature will look into reports by Cabinet members, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, the Prosecutor General of Supreme People's Procuracy, the State Auditor General and others questioned.

The Government, ministries and agencies should send their reports before July 15, Huệ said, asking NA agencies to reform its report assessment methods. 

On Thursday afternoon, the NA also passed a resolution on the assembly's 2024 supervision programme, with over 92 per cent deputies voted in favour.

A majority of NA deputies also agreed on the necessity to issue a resolution on a programme piloting a number of specific policies for HCM City's development. — VNS
