HÀ NỘI — The water resources protection programme "Mizuiku - I love clean water" has improved facilities at more than 131 clean water works in primary schools.

Suntory Holdings Limited and Suntory PepsiCo Việt Nam Beverage held a ceremony to summarise the eight-year journey of the programme in Hà Nội on Friday.

The programme has more than 137,000 primary school students participating in water conservation training courses, and 4,203 water resources education classes are widely disseminated.

Mizuiku is an educational initiative about nature and water, which Suntory Holdings Limited in Japan has implemented since 2004.

The programme was expanded and deployed in Việt Nam, with the name "Mizuiku - I love clean water" in 2015.

For the first time, Suntory PepsiCo signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education and Training to bring the programme to new heights and reach more students - the country's future nursery.

With the comprehensive cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Training in the 2023 – 2025 period, the programme will be directed and organised nationwide.

It will contribute to building a safe and sustainable living environment and create the necessary conditions for the healthy development of children.

The programme will raise awareness for 100 per cent of students in grades 3 and 4 of primary schools in 63 provinces and cities about the importance of water sources, protection and saving of water in the next three years.

The programme will also contribute to school health care, improve physical health, and environmental sanitation and bring opportunities to access clean water and sanitation for students and the community. — VNS
