HCM CITY – More than 1.7 million students from kindergarten to high school in HCM City took part in the opening ceremony for the new academic year 2022-23 on Monday morning (September 5).
Phan Văn Trị Primary School in Gò Vấp District on September 5 organised an opening ceremony for the new academic year, and received recognition that the school meets the national standard.
Principal of the school Mạch Công Thạch said the school has always successfully completed the tasks assigned by the city’s Department of Education and Training during the past six years.
“The recognition certificate of the school meeting the national standard is our honour and pride. Therefore, each teacher, school staff, and student in the school must have responsibility to continuously strive forward,” he said.
The school will upgrade facilities and teaching equipment, invest in building standard classrooms, improve the quality of the teachers, ensure teaching quality, and attach importance to educate morality and traditional customs.
It will also continue implementing English teaching programmes according to the plan of the Department of Education and Training meeting the international integration process.
Students at Lê Quý Đôn High School in District 3 attended the opening ceremony for the new academic year on the same day, with the participation of secretary of the city Party Committee Nguyễn Văn Nên.
Trần Quốc Toản 1 Secondary School in Thủ Đức city also solemnly held the opening ceremony on the same day.
The school received a recognition certificate of the school meeting the national standard at the first level.
Established in 2016, the school is being developed with advanced models following regional and international integration.
The school has taken experience in creative teaching and STEM education towards building Open-space teaching and learning environments such as clubs and classes held out of school.
Nguyễn Thị Thu Hằng, principal of the school, said the school has 1,196 students this academic year.
There are 35 classrooms with 35 students per classroom.
“Besides equipping students with basic knowledge, the school always allows them to build soft skills, helping them to boldly develop their own abilities,” she said.
The city sees a year-on-year increase of nearly 22,000 students this academic year, including an increase of about 6,500 kindergarten students, a decrease of more than 11,000 primary students, a decrease of 13,600 secondary students, and an increase of more than 12,700 high school students.
The increase in the number of students is mainly in Thủ Đức City and the outlying districts of Bình Tân, Bình Chánh, Hóc Môn and 12 which are in the process of rapid urbanisation and population growth.
The city plans to put into use 575 new classrooms this month, including 210 rooms for kindergartens, 218 rooms for primary schools and 147 rooms for secondary schools. –VNS
