LONG AN — The People's Committee of Long An Province plans to build 4,848 more social housing units for low-income workers by 2025.
The province has approved investment in 16 social housing projects for workers. Of these projects, 12 are being implemented, while four projects have been put into operation, including Long Hậu Residence in Long Hậu Industrial Park, providing accommodation for 1,600 workers; Đông Quang Residence in Hải Sơn Industrial Park, providing accommodation for 1,700 workers; Tân Đức social housing residence, providing accommodation for 1,850 workers and the social housing area in Long An Industrial Park providing accommodation for 98 workers.
The supply of social housing apartments in localities is still limited and demand is high, which has led to price increases.
The province plans to speed up procedures to complete the above projects on time to create better living conditions for workers in the province.
To deal with the shortage of social housing for workers and meet the demand and affordability of middle and low-income households, the province has also issued a plan to build 7,272 social houses for workers from 2025 to 2030.
Long An currently has 16 industrial zones with an area of 2,457 hectares.
These industrial zones have attracted 1,726 investment projects, including 832 foreign ones with a total investment capital of US$5.4 trillion and 894 domestic projects with a total investment capital of VNĐ106 trillion.
By the end of last year, Việt Nam had completed 266 social house projects with more than 142,000 houses, with a total area of more than 7.1 million square metres. — VNS
