Speaking at the conference, the chairman of the Hà Nội People’s Council, Nguyễn Ngọc Tuấn, said that in the first months of this year, the city and also the whole country continued to work with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With effective leadership and direction of the municipal Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, the active participation of the Fatherland Front, and other political and social organisations, Hà Nội had achieved many important results.

The number of new COVID cases has decreased sharply, the pandemic prevention and control activities are being conducted well, and the number of severe cases is well controlled.

Gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of this year increased by 5.83 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The capital city also implemented many other important tasks such as proposing a new resolution on developing the capital in the period 2021-30, with a vision to 2045, adjusting the overall master plan on construction in the capital until 2030 with a vision to 2050, reviewing the implementation of the Capital Law and completing procedures for the law amendments.

Tuấn said that city leaders had issued guidelines and policies to remove difficulties, and strictly implement disciplinary action for slow and delayed projects.

The Hà Nội People’s Council would promulgate a resolution on measures to speed up the progress of slow projects.

Tuấn suggested representatives of the municipal People's Council raise their sense of responsibility and focus on discussing and contributing many ideas on the content presented at the conference. — VNS
