HÀ NỘI —  The medical centre of Chí Linh City, Hải Dương Province, is working with local police to investigate the deaths of a 43-year-old woman and her two-year-old son.

On Wednesday night, a medical centre employee found the woman and boy lying dead on the floor inside a locked patient room.

Hoàng Ngọc Lân, director of the centre, told Sức khỏe & Đời sống (Health & Life) online newspaper that on Monday night, the boy was taken to the centre as he had a fever of nearly 40 degrees Celsius.

Both the boy and the woman were diagnosed with COVID-19 and were taken here for observation and treatment. However, the woman had no symptoms.

He said that the boy was treated at the centre, and his health conditions were stable. After the incident, the centre contacted local police to investigate the cause of death.

He added that the centre also immediately held a meeting to see whether any treatment problems or medical ethics issues occurred.

According to two patients who stayed in the same patient room with the two dead, there heard no complaints from the patients before they died.

The centre informed the People's Committee of the ward where the two dead resided and their relatives to organise the burial per COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control regulations. — VNS
