Việt Nam reports 168,719 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

HÀ NỘI  — Việt Nam registered 168,719 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

The country's total number of infections since the start of the pandemic now stands at 5,903,417.

The capital Hà Nội continued to record the highest number of daily transmissions with 30,693. The city also registered an additional 195,000 infections recorded from previous days.

Nam Định Province also registered 35,949 extra cases. Hưng Yên and Phú Thọ provinces registered 33,760 and 20,784 extra cases, respectively. 

The remaining infections were found in Nghệ An (11,666), Phú Thọ (7,216), Bắc Ninh (5,669), Sơn La (4,872), Hưng Yên (4,492), Lạng Sơn (4,479), Hải Dương (4,460), Tuyên Quang (4,287), Hòa Bình (4,279), Lào Cai (3,539), Nam Định (3,432), Hải Phòng (3,200), Cà Mau (3,200), Gia Lai (3,107), Quảng Ninh (2,988), Quảng Bình (2,921), Quảng Trị (2,827), Vĩnh Phúc (2,823), Hồ Chí Minh City (2,804), Bắc Giang (2,794), Thái Bình (2,747), Điện Biên (2,728), Thái Nguyên (2,716), Bình Dương (2,696), Bình Định (2,687), Bình Phước (2,683), Lai Châu (2,599), Ninh Bình (2,507), Cao Bằng (2,442), Hà Nam (2,327), Yên Bái (2,186), Bến Tre (1,981), Hà Giang (1,971), Lâm Đồng (1,735), Khánh Hòa (1,560), Phú Yên (1,555), Đà Nẵng (1,517), Bắc Kạn (1,493), Đắk Nông (1,427), Tây Ninh (1,401), Thanh Hóa (1,338), Vĩnh Long (1,335), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (1,211), Trà Vinh (1,177), Hà Tĩnh (873), Kon Tum (770), Quảng Ngãi (693), Bình Thuận (646), Quảng Nam (328), Bạc Liêu (293), Đồng Nai (269), Thừa Thiên Huế (242), Long An (202), Cần Thơ (197), Kiên Giang (124), An Giang (94), Đồng Tháp (72), Sóc Trăng (46), Hậu Giang (41), Tiền Giang (27), Ninh Thuận (19) and Đắk Lắk (1).

Among the new transmissions, a total of 116,648 were detected in the community.

There were 62 COVID-related fatalities announced, in Hà Nội (10), Đồng Nai (4), Quảng Ninh (4), Quảng Trị (4), Bạc Liêu (3), Nam Định (3), Nghệ An (3), Ninh Bình (3), Phú Thọ (3), Phú Yên (3), An Giang (2), Bắc Ninh (2), Bình Dương (2), Hà Giang (2), Lạng Sơn (2), Thái Nguyên (2), Bắc Giang (1), Bắc Kạn (1), Bến Tre (1), Bình Thuận (1), Cà Mau (1), Đà Nẵng (1), Điện Biên (1), Sóc Trăng (1), Tây Ninh (1) and Hồ Chí Minh (1).

Việt Nam’s COVID-19 death toll is now 41,290, accounting for 0.7 per cent of total cases.

The health ministry also reported that 3,934 patients nationwide are in critical condition, with 302 requiring invasive ventilation and four on life support.

A further 84,811 patients were given the all-clear on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,068,033. 

More than 199.9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country to date. —VNS
