HÀ NỘI — With 131,817 COVID-19 cases logged in the past 24 hours, Việt Nam has confirmed record-breaking infection numbers for 12 straight days.
The country’s total caseload since the start of the pandemic is 4,232,520.
The capital Hà Nội continues to be the leading locality for coronavirus transmissions with another record high of 25,013, and 12 new deaths.
It was followed by the northern province of Bắc Ninh and central province of Nghệ An, with 7,161 and 6,460 new cases respectively.

The two northern provinces of Phú Thọ and Thái Nguyên registered an additional 33,144 and 8,297 infections from previous days.
Việt Nam's current seven-day average of daily new cases of 109,499 is significantly higher than the figure of 62,304 recorded a week ago.
26,566 COVID-19 patients were given the all-clear on Saturday, bringing the total recoveries in the country to 2,616,002.
There are currently 4,249 serious cases, including eight on life support.
82 COVID-related deaths were logged, raising the death toll in the country to 40,726, accounting for 1 per cent of total cases.
To date, Việt Nam has administered a total of 197,277,917 doses of COVID vaccines.
180.26 million shots have been given to the adult population, including 70.85 million first doses, 67.6 million second doses and 41.78 million third doses.
17.01 million vaccines have been administered to children aged 12-17, including 8.71 million first doses and 8.27 million second doses. —VNS
