HÀ NỘI — Chairman of Bình Dương Province's People's Committee Võ Văn Minh has appointed Director of the Hà Nội Medical University Hospital Nguyễn Lân Hiếu to also serve as director of Bình Dương General Hospital from March 1.

This is the first time a physician has been appointed as the director of two hospitals, especially two large medical facilities at opposite ends of the country.

Hiếu said that Bình Dương was a province with very strong economic development, but the two fields of education and health had many difficulties as the province was close to HCM City, so many residents chose the city for medical treatment or study.

“Currently, Bình Dương Province is very determined to develop, becoming a centre of social security and economic development. I think this is absolutely the right direction. I see this as an opportunity to develop medicine in the southeast region,” said Hiếu.

During the peak pandemic period in Bình Dương in 2021, Hiếu led a team at Hà Nội Medical University Hospital to support the province in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, making many contributions to medical examinations and treatment at district hospitals, helping bring the province’s life back to normal.

Born in 1972, from Mỹ Hào Town, Hưng Yên Province, Hiếu is a famous cardiologist. He is currently the Director of Hà Nội Medical University Hospital and head of the hospital's Cardiovascular Centre. He is also a deputy of the 15th National Assembly and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.
