HÀ NỘI — Socio-economic development in November has witnessed positive outcomes with a stabilised macro-economy and inflation rate remaining at a low level, heard the monthly Government meeting on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Consumer Price Index increased by 1.84 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The industrial production index of November increased by 5.5 per cent over the previous year. The index of 11 months rose by 3.6 per cent over the same period last year.

After piloting a tourism re-opening programme for international tourists, the number of foreign visitors to Việt Nam has increased by 42.4 per cent compared to the previous month.

After two months of implementing Resolution No 128-NQ-CP, the pandemic has been contained on a national scale.

Chairing the regular meeting on Thursday, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính said the floods and heavy rain over the past few days in the south-central and Central Highlands localities had resulted in serious consequences.

The Cabinet leader sent deep condolences to the families of the deceased and ordered local authorities to strictly follow Directive 1659/CĐ-TTg on responding to and recovering from flood consequences.

Given the context of the evolving pandemic with the new variant Omicron and risks posed by socio-economic instability, PM Chính asked ministries and localities to continue to follow Resolution 128-NQ-CP on safe flexible adaption and effective containment of COVID-19.

He emphasised there should be a specific plan on safe and effective vaccination, striving to cover two doses for those aged over 18 by year-end, administer the third dose for adults and continue vaccinations for children.

He ordered relevant agencies to review the vaccination process in order not to allow any incidents to happen.

Besides regular tasks, in November, the Government focused on institutional building, issuing 12 legal documents, submitting 54 documents to the National Assembly and participating in question and answer sessions at the second meeting of the 15th National Assembly.

PM Chính asked ministries and sectors to accelerate public investment disbursement, continue to finalise institutions to prepare for the upcoming meeting of the National Assembly, make efforts to re-open schools in a safe manner, continue to conduct administrative procedure reform and ensure social security for vulnerable groups and livelihoods for people to welcome the New Year.

He asked ministries and agencies to soon finalise a comprehensive strategy on COVID-19 prevention and control and a socio-economic recovery and development programme to submit to the National Assembly at the year-end session. — VNS
