Vietnamese leaders congratulate new US President, Vice President

HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary and State President Nguyễn Phú Trọng and Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc on Thursday congratulated Joseph R. Biden Jr. on taking the oath as the 46th President of the United States.

In their congratulations published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese leaders expressed their belief that the new US President and his administration will reap myriad successes in the endeavours for prosperous development and happiness of the US and its people, as well as continuing to contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the world.

On the basis of Việt Nam-US relations that have been built and continually consolidated over the last 25 years, and the good sentiments of President Biden towards Việt Nam, the ties between the two countries will continue to thrive in a result-oriented, effective and sustainable manner, the message reads.

On the same day, Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh extended congratulations to Vice President Kamala Harris.
