HÀ NỘI — President of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Trần Thanh Mẫn received Vice President of the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee Khambay Damlat in Hà Nội yesterday.

At the meeting, Mẫn lauded Laos’ 2018 achievements and the development of the two countries’ traditional friendship through the exchange of delegations and the signing of co-operation agreements.

He suggested stepping up transport connectivity between the two countries such as the Thakhek-Mụ Giạ-Tân Ấp-Vũng Áng railway running through Laos’ Vientiane and Việt Nam’s central Quảng Bình and Hà Tĩnh provinces, and the Hà Nội-Vientiane Highway.

The two sides should expand investment in infrastructure at border gates and continue co-ordinating in the search for, repatriation and reburial of remains of Vietnamese soldiers who died in Laos during war.

Appreciating the outcomes of the talks between the two fronts, he showed his belief that both sides will intensify collaboration, contributing to boosting bilateral relations.

Damlat informed the host of Laos’ front work in 2018, including the implementation of a memorandum of understanding on building a Laos-Việt Nam border gate of peace, friendship and co-operation.
