HÀ NỘI – Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has applauded Estonia’s e-government model, saying that the country’s experience in this field would be a good lesson for Việt Nam.
Receiving Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser in Hanoi, the Prime Minister welcomed Estonian experts’ support for Việt Nam’s e-government building process.
Mikser said he hoped that his visit would create a new driving force for bilateral relations as co-operation potential remained huge, especially in the fields of e-government and e-governance.
He also expressed his belief that the two countries’ relations would continue to grow.
Digital technology would help Việt Nam with its e-government system, which in turn would intensify transparency and save money, he said, adding that Estonia was willing to share its experience in this field.
He stressed that Estonia would support the EU’s signing of a free trade agreement with Việt Nam, and would be one of the first countries to ratify the document.
Acknowledging the guest’s ideas, Phúc said that two-way trade remained low, but that the visit was a chance to step up measures to boost bilateral trade.
He spoke highly of the co-ordination between the two countries at multilateral forums, and agreed on the minister’s stance that countries must respect international law and United Nations conventions.
Regarding the East Sea issue, the PM emphasised Việt Nam’s consistent view of ensuring peace, stability and aviation and navigation freedom, and respecting the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.-VNS
