HÀ NỘI – Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc will attend and co-chair the 40th meeting of the Việt Nam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee in Laos on February 4-5, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He will be accompanied by a high-ranking Government delegation, as guests of Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, added the ministry.
Việt Nam and Laos enjoy a close traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation. Trade between Laos and Việt Nam topped US$900 million in 2017, a year-on-year increase of over 10 per cent. The two countries have set a target of $4 billion in trade by 2020.
Vietnamese companies have invested $5 billion in 276 projects in Laos, mainly in energy, services, infrastructure, mining, agriculture and forestry. — VNS
