Viet Nam NewsHÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam yesterday expressed pleasure over the growing friendship and comprehensive co-operation between Viet Nam and Cambodia.

Receiving Cambodian Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith in Hà Nội, he also said that the two sides had supported each other at regional and international forums.

He said celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year (June 24) afforded both sides the opportunity to raise public awareness, especially among younger generations, of the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

Đam appreciated the co-operation between Radio the Voice of Việt Nam (VOV) and the Cambodian Ministry of Information as well as National Voice of Cambodia.

He noted that VOV has assisted Cambodia in installing radio and television stations and improving the capacity of radio and television programme production under the framework of the inter-governmental co-operation agreement.

The Deputy PM suggested that both sides continue increasing coverage in both Vietnamese and Cambodian languages and adding more cultural and art programmes featuring the two countries and their peoples so as to enhance mutual understanding.

He also wished Cambodia greater nation-building achievements and successful conduct of the Senate and National Assembly elections next year.

Kanharith thanked the Vietnamese Government and VOV in particular for their support and informed the Deputy PM of a co-operation agreement signed on Thursday by the VOV and the National Voice of Cambodia. — VNS
