HÀ NỘI – The upcoming State visit to Việt Nam by the Emperor and Empress of Japan will be a memorable milestone in bilateral relations, cementing the close friendship and co-operation enjoyed by both countries, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc said yesterday.

Receving Japan’s Ambassador to Việt Nam, Kunio Umede, in Hà Nội, the Prime Minister said Việt Nam-Japan relations were experiencing their best times ever.

Việt Nam placed great importance on fostering its ties with Japan under the spirit of extensive strategic partnership, he said, adding that this would promote peace and prosperity.
Việt Nam was preparing for the State visit by the Emperor and Empress as an important event, he said, asking functional agencies on both sides to do their best.
Ambassador Kunio Umede told the PM that the Japanese Embassy was actively co-ordinating with relevant Vietnamese agencies in preparing for the upcoming visit by the Emperor and Empress.
He agreed with the PM that the visit showed that bilateral ties were enjoying their best-ever period and deepening in a more comprehensive manner.
He also informed the PM about coordinating with Vietnamese agencies in preparing a large-scale programme to promote investment in Việt Nam with the participation of around 1,000 Japanese businesspeople.

The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and the Ministry of Planning and Investment were working closely to ensure the programme’s success, he said. – VNS
