HÀ NỘI – Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc directed all ministries, sectors and localities to make maximum efforts to achieve socio-economic targets set by the National Assembly in 2016, during the Government’s regular meeting in the capital city yesterday.

He said December is the peak time for disbursing basic construction capital, promoting sales of goods, ensuring traffic order and safety, and preventing fire and explosions.

“Not only the Government, the PM, Deputy PMs and Cabinet members but also the entire system from the central level to ministerial, provincial, district and communal levels must ‘move’ to serve the people and businesses,” the Prime Minister said.

In this direction, it is necessary to remove any regulations that hinder development, he added.

PM Nguyễn Xuân Phúc instructed the Việt Nam Asset Management Company (VAMC) to promote its role in handling bad debts, stressing that loss-making businesses must not be saved. He reiterated the resolve to cut public expenditure, asking localities to save 10 per cent of their non-salary regular expenditure for salary raising policy and other necessary tasks. He also ordered the early discussion of socio-economic development orientations for 2017 to avoid lax business and production at the beginning of the year.

The PM reminded ministries, competent agencies and localities to prepare for the traditional Lunar New Year 2017 and provide support for poor people to enjoy a warm Tết holiday.

Among issues discussed at the meeting, restructuring agricultural production attracted great attention as it is a key pillar of the economy, along with the impacts of trade agreements on farm produce exports. – VNS
