HÀ NỘI – As of January 19, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) had received 559 congratulatory letters and messages from 109 political parties, six international and regional organisations, 16 individuals, 122 foreign mass organisations, and 306 overseas Vietnamese associations.

They convey sentiments of friendship and cooperation, reflecting a profound interest in this political event of great significance for the Party, State and people of Việt Nam.

Officials revealed the information at the opening session of the 14th National Party Congress on Tuesday morning.

This demonstrates a great source of encouragement to the Vietnamese people’s Đổi mới (Renewal) process, initiated and led by the CPV. It also shows a vivid manifestation of the increasingly profound friendship and cooperation between the CPV and international political parties, organisations and friends, as well as the growing attachment of the overseas Vietnamese community to the homeland.

Among the congratulatory messages, five came from the communist parties or ruling parties in neighbouring countries and traditional friends, namely the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Communist Party of China, the Cambodian People’s Party, the Communist Party of Cuba, and the Workers’ Party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In their message, the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party writes: "We extend our warmest congratulations on the great, comprehensive and historic achievements that the fraternal Party, State and people of Việt Nam have recorded over the past 80 years since the founding of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, and especially during the 40 years of comprehensive Đổi Mới (renewal).

"Under the leadership of the CPV, the country has successfully implemented the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution and the Socio-economic Development Plan. Việt Nam has maintained political stability, ensured social order and safety, and achieved continuous high economic growth.”

Consequently, the country’s role and position have become increasingly prominent in regional and international arenas, the message notes.

"These achievements affirm the ingenious, wise, and correct leadership of the CPV. They also demonstrate the steadfastness of the Party, State, and people of Việt Nam, who, by harnessing the strength of great national unity, are striving forward to reach the goal of a wealthy people, a strong country, and a democratic, equitable, and civilised society.

“We are firmly convinced that under the wise and ingenious leadership of the CPV, the fraternal Vietnamese people will continue to record even greater achievements and successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress,” the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee wrote.

"The Party, State, and people of Laos solemnly affirm that, no matter how the global situation may evolve, we will continue, together with the Party, State, and people of Việt Nam, to preserve, nurture, and promote the special traditional solidarity established by the great President Hồ Chí Minh, beloved President Kaysone Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong.

"This bond, cultivated through the dedication of successive generations of leaders, revolutionary fighters, and the peoples of both countries, has become a sacred and priceless heritage of the two nations, a fundamental principle for the existence and development of both countries, and a decisive factor in the victories of each nation’s revolution."

The Communist Party of China’s Central Committee wrote in its congratulatory message: “Since the 13th National Congress of the CPV, the Party Central Committee has united and led the Vietnamese people to achieve outstanding accomplishments in advancing socialist construction and the renewal process.

"Amidst a complex international situation, Việt Nam has maintained political and social stability, achieved rapid and sustainable economic development, and enhanced its international standing. This clearly demonstrates the advantages of the leadership of the Communist Party and the socialist system, while making positive contributions to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.”

The message went on to state: “The CPV's 14th National Congress is an important congress, held at a crucial juncture as the CPV and the Vietnamese people advance toward realising the goals set for the 100th anniversary of the Party’s founding. The Congress will outline major directions and policies for the development of the Party and the State of Việt Nam over the next five years and beyond, opening a new era of development for the Vietnamese nation with profound historical significance.

"We are confident that this Congress will be one of unity and success; under the steadfast leadership of the CPV, the Vietnamese people will successfully accomplish the goals and tasks of building and developing the Party and the country.”

The Communist Party of China’s Central Committee's message notes that the Party and State of China attach great importance to developing relations between the two Parties and the two countries, and stand ready to work with Việt Nam to uphold the principle of 'friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability and looking towards the future', as well as the spirit of being 'good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners'.

They are also ready to thoroughly implement the common views of the two Parties' and countries' top leaders, and based on the overall goal of 'six betters', plan to promote the building of a China–Việt Nam community with a shared future of strategic significance, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples and contributing to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

In its message, the Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) expressed admiration for the major achievements recorded by the Party, Government and people of Việt Nam in recent years. It welcomed the continued development of traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, Governments and people, in line with the principles of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability.

In its message, the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee stated: “The great achievements of Việt Nam in fulfilling the goals set by the 13th National Party Congress have laid a solid foundation for strong and comprehensive development, both in quality and quantity, in the country’s development orientation in the years to come, toward major milestones: the 100th anniversary of the Party’s founding in 2030 and the 100th anniversary of the nation’s founding in 2045."

They also emphasised that the positive results achieved by the CPV in carrying out the Renewal process over the past 40 years were valuable experiences and references for Cuba in promoting its own economic transformation.

The Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea noted that in recent years, the CPV has led the Vietnamese people to major victories in building a strong and prosperous socialist state. It expressed his confidence that the 14th Congress would become an important milestone in strengthening Party building and consolidating and developing state and social institutions in line with the requirements of the new era.
