HÀ NỘI — Over 600 delegates will attend the 4th World Conference of Vietnamese Overseas and 2024 Forum for Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts Abroad in Hà Nội during August 21-28.

According to the spokesperson for the foreign ministry, the conference has been held three times before, in 2009, 2012, and 2016. The conference has seen the participation of overseas Vietnamese from many countries, as well as leaders from central and local ministries and sectors.

This year’s conference coincides with the 20th anniversary of the implementation of Resolution No.36/2004 on the work related to overseas Vietnamese.

The conference will be held under the theme "Overseas Vietnamese Joining Hands to Realise the Country's Development Aspirations."

"This is a forum for the relevant authorities to grasp the situation and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese, thereby enhancing support and care for them," the spokesperson said.

According to Hằng, this is also an occasion to strengthen the connection between entrepreneurs, experts, intellectuals, and overseas Vietnamese to promote investment from the diaspora and expand the national innovation network, especially through the forum for Vietnamese intellectuals and experts.

The Prime Minister is expected to attend and deliver a keynote address at the opening session, with the events featuring four thematic sessions focusing on the role of the Vietnamese diaspora in high-tech development, economic growth, national unity, as well as the promotion of Vietnamese culture and language.

Distinguished expatriates are set to meet with Party and State leaders, conduct field surveys, and engage in discussions with local authorities and businesses.

The conference is expected to have the participation of about 600 delegates, including around 200 overseas Vietnamese delegates, Hằng noted. — VNS
