HÀ NỘI – A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) attended the 23rd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties, which took place in Turkey’s Izmir City on October 20-22.

The event, hosted by the Communist Party of Turkey, brought together 120 delegates from 68 communist and worker parties of 54 countries worldwide.

Under the moniker, "The Political and Ideological Battles to Confront Capitalism and Imperialism, the task was to inform and mobilise the working class, youth, women, and intellectuals in the struggle against exploitation, oppression, imperialist lies and historical revisionism. The aim is to create awareness for the social and democratic rights of workers and peoples, against militarism and war, for peace and socialism."

The participants exchanged views on the current international situation, especially the complicated developments and tensions emerging in Europe and the Middle East, and called for an end to the use of force, thus ensuring the lives, security and safety of people in conflicts.

They also emphasised the need to strengthen solidarity and further promote the role of international communists and workers, for the sake of peace, national independence, progress and socialism.

The Vietnamese representatives briefed the meeting on Việt Nam’s achievements after nearly 40 years of reform, affirming that Việt Nam consistently pursued the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, development, multilateralism and diversification of foreign relations, and international integration.

The country advocated expanding and strengthening relations with communists, workers, and other political parties around the world, they said.

On the sidelines of plenary sessions, the Vietnamese delegation met with party representatives, and participated in a display of documents and publications on the CPV. VNA/VNS
