HAVANA — The August Revolution in 1945 is a military epic written by the Vietnamese people, representing one of the greatest victories of the era and proving to the world that a united nation can never be defeated, according to journalist Roberto Molina of Cuba’s Prensa Latina news agency.

In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency’s correspondent in Cuba to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945–2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945) of Việt Nam, the journalist expressed his admiration for a nation with a millennia-old history, marked by the struggles of its people for independence and freedom after centuries of resisting foreign invasions, from Japanese fascists and French colonialists to American imperialists.

Việt Nam’s victories became an enduring source of inspiration for later independence movements across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, he assessed.

According to Roberto Molina, national unity - the cornerstone of Việt Nam’s strategy against colonialism and foreign invaders - has been the true “architect” behind the remarkable progress witnessed today: lifting an entire nation out of poverty and reaching heights that, just a few decades ago, were unimaginable.

Achievements in food production and exports, technological advancement, industrial growth, comprehensive development of modern infrastructure, and the promotion of cultural, artistic and architectural values have all contributed to solidifying Việt Nam’s position, not only within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), but also in various international organisations and on the global stage.

All of this has been made possible thanks to the wisdom, intelligence, and steadfast leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, through generations of leaders, every Party member and official, and most importantly, the unity and unwavering loyalty of the people to the life and legacy of the great President Hồ Chí Minh. — VNA/VNS
