Schindellegi / CH - Media OutReach - October 2, 2018 - Kuehne + Nagel announced the acquisition of the logisticsoperations of Wira Logistics, a leading Indonesian logistics company. Thisstrategic acquisition will strengthen Kuehne + Nagel's nationwide warehousingand distribution network in Indonesia.

Gianfranco Sgro, member of the Managing Board of Kuehne + NagelInternational AG, responsible for contract logistics, says: "Indonesia isarguably the most important internet market in South East Asia in terms of itssheer size, emerging middle class and digitally savvy population. With thisacquisition we can leverage our global eCommerce strategy. At the same time itallows us to strengthen our Contract Logistics footprint in Asia and ourposition as a leading logistics service provider. The tightened domestic networkwill further enhance our value proposition of providing fully integratedend-to-end logistics solutions to our customers across Indonesia."

The expansion of Kuehne + Nagel's warehousing and distribution capabilitiesin Indonesia where imports and exports account for close to US$300 billion annuallyhas been a strategic focus for the company. The country's burgeoning middleclass is driving increased purchasing power making it an important consumermarket for many companies.

Throughthis acquisition, a strategically excellent positioned  distribution centre in Cibitung together withsatellite locations in Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali will now be part of Kuehne +Nagel's warehouse portfolio. The expanded operations will also include anincreased distribution network of 200 vehicles enabling wider coverage forcustomers across Java.
