HÀ NỘI — Aiming to bring traditional art closer to art lovers, IAcA Café will host an exhibition and talk show Folk Paintings through the Eyes of Young Artists on Sunday.

The exhibition will present the Folk Paintings Hoodie Collection of folk art prints on daily-life objects. It is the result of collaboration between TiredCity, a company specialising in distributing exclusive artworks from Việt Nam’s prominent young artists, and young artist Nguyễn Xuân Lam, author of the illustration collection Vẽ Lại Tranh Dân Gian (Redraw folk paintings), which she recreated with graphic techniques.

The Folk Paintings Hoodie Collection will present unisex hoodies which are printed with folk paintings of Ngũ Hổ (Five Tigers), Thánh Gióng (St. Gióng), and Chim Hạc (The Crane). The exhibition also will showcase several other art prints on daily-life objects, including notebook, tote bag, T-shirt and postcard.

An accompanying talk show will be given by artist Lam, and Trịnh Thu Trang, founder of “Họa Sắc Việt” – the first project in Việt Nam to document colours and patterns of Hàng Trống folk paintings that can be applied to modern designs.

The free-entry event will start at 2pm. IAcA Café is on the second floor at 24-26 Lý Quốc Sư Street, Hà Nội.
