HÀ NỘI — The 15th International Travel Expo (ITE) will take place on September 5-7 in HCM City to boost the tourism industry in Mekong Delta region.

Following the success of 14 previous editions, ITE has become an important tourism event for promoting national and regional tourism.

This year’s event is expected to attract more than 600 domestic and international enterprises from 40 countries and territories and more than 35,000 visitors, according to Lê Trương Hiền Hòa, director of the HCM City Tourism Promotion Centre.

The event will include exhibitions, seminars and forums introducing destinations, promotions and cruise tourism.

“The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as the entire country have been making enthusiastic efforts to introduce the tourism potential of the country,” said Bùi Tá Hoàng Vũ, director of the HCM City Department of the Tourism.

“We are sure that ITE will be a great experience for exhibitors, buyers and visitors to HCM City,” he said.

The introduction of the ITE is one among various activities in the framework of the Việt Nam International Travel Mart (VITM) held in Hà Nội on March 27-30.

On the occasion, the Mekong Delta Tourism Association also hosted a conference yesterday to introduce the potential of Mekong Delta provinces. Representatives of 13 cities and provinces in the region introduced products and destinations.

Phạm Thế Triều, vice chairman of the association, said last year the region received more than 40 million domestic and international tourists on tours such as boat tours, garden tours, Cái Răng floating market and cow racing festival.

“We are determined to boost regional tourism, improve service quality, develop new destinations and co-operate with partners,” said Triều. — VNS
