HCM CITY — The HCM City Culture and Arts Publishing House has released a series of five new books featuring seas and islands of Việt Nam.
The works are written by authors of the HCM City Writers Association.
Three Poem publications, by Phùng Hiệu, Phạm Phương Lan and Phan Trung Thành, feature the daily life of fishermen living on Lý Sơn and Phú Quý islands and their patriotism and bravery.
Huỳnh Mẫn Chi’s short story collection, Cánh Chim Chắn Bão (Birds in Storm), includes 16 works highlighting Vietnamese navy soldiers and coast guards.
New titles include Về Phía Bình Minh (Head to Dawn), a novel by Võ Thu Hương. The book tells the tragedy of a young woman living in a coastal village who faces challenges in career and love.
The important role and strength of rural Vietnamese women today are also featured.
The authors wrote these books following their field trip last year in Lý Sơn and Phú Quý organised by the association and its partner, the HCM City Union of Literature & Arts Association.
The trip attracted dozens of veteran and young writers in HCM City and southern provinces.
