HÀ NỘI — Daily furniture like kitchenware and decorative objects seem to have gained a new existential mission at the Modern Life exhibition held on October 14 in Hà Nội.

The exhibition gathered products of 30 famous luxury brands from around the world and arranged them as artworks.

The exhibition is divided into four different rooms. The Renaissance room shows kitchenware arranged to recreate scenes from four paintings: Breakfast in the Garden by Giuseppe De Nittis, Still Life with Chafing Dish by Willem Kalf, Still-Life  by Jacopo de’ Barbari and The Dinner Table by Henri Matisse.

The Light room shows nine decorative objects and vases made by crystal and gold. Among them, there is a limited edition Lion statue of which just 299 ones exist worldwide. They are displayed in a dark room with light cast directly on the artworks.

The Installation Arts room shows home furnishings as installation art. Objects used on ordinary days are arranged in a different way bring new feelings and experience for visitors.

The Contemporary Art room combines the messages of the three rooms through contemporary dance. Through the room, the organiser sends a message that everyone dreams for a happy family in life.

Trần Nguyễn Thiên Hương, founder of Bazaar Magazine in Việt Nam and a visitor to the show, said the exhibition brings special feelings for her.

“It’s wonderful when our life is surrounded by beauty and art from ordinary objects,” she said.

The exhibition was organised for one day only due to the high value of the products. The organiser said in the future they plan to hold another iteration of the show. — VNS
