ĐÀ NẴNG — A massive professional art performance at Trưng Vương Theatre has opened the annual National Music and Dance Festival being held in the central coastal city of Đà Nẵng from August 21-31.

The programme, titled Chuyện Tiên Sa (The Fairy Tale) and conducted by the city’s Department of Culture and Sports and the Trưng Vương Theatre, has attracted the attention of more than 1,300 audience members.

It was staged on Tuesday by senior artists from the city including the theatre’s director and singer Trần Văn Hào, drama director People’s Artist Kiều Lê and with script written by poet Lê Cảnh Nhạc.

Chuyện Tiên Sa features the dream of angels in love with people on Earth. The story reflects the desire of local people in Đà Nẵng to build the city into a land of love and nature.

The large performance was directed with the application of modern technology from the digital music and image industry including projection mapping creating special visual effects, wowing viewers.

After each show, the artists received huge applause from the audience who occupied all seats in the theatre.

The National Music and Dance Festival held in Đà Nẵng, with more than 800 artists from 18 professional art troupes nationwide, aims to promote tourism and development of the city. Each art troupe will offer one performance of between 80 and 110 minutes during the week-long competition.

Deputy director of the city’s Culture and Sports department, Nguyễn Thị Hội An, said the annual festival was also an opportunity for artists to show off their talents in singing, playing instruments and dancing in the biggest competition of the year.
