Vietnam Connection Music Festival in HCM City

HCM CITY — American contrabass artist Jeff Bradetich and clarinetist John Scott will perform at the 2018 Vietnam Connection Music Festival this week.

Bradetich and his wife, contrabass artist Gudrun Raschen, will open the “Jeff Bradetich & Friends” concert on August 20 with Shostakovich’s Five Pieces for Two Violins and a Piano, Op 97d, but they will replace two violins with contrabasses.

He will continue with Temperamental, written exclusively for him by Argentine composer and bassist Andres Martin in 2017 to celebrate his 60th birthday.

Bradetich made his professional concerto debut at the age of 16 and was appointed to the orchestra of the Lyric Opera of Chicago by age 19.

He has performed at more than 600 concerts at prestigious music halls and theatres all over the world such as Carnegie Recital Hall in the US and Wigmore Hall in the UK.

He has won many international solo competitions, and recorded six solo albums of music for double bass and piano.

He has taught at many universities in the US and given master classes throughout the world.

The second concert “An Evening of Brahms, Brahms and Brahms” on August 23 will highlight masterpieces by the great German composer.

It will feature John Scott, a professor of clarinet at the University of North Texas, the US.

He has performed solo concerts and with many orchestras around the US.

He has also taught classes and workshops at music festivals in the US, the UK, Belgium, and Tokyo.

The concert will also feature international and Vietnamese musicians like American hornist William Scharnberg and Vietnamese-American violinist Vũ Việt Chương, co-founder of Vietnam Connection Music Festival.
