HÀ NỘI — Miss Việt Nam 2016’s first runner-up Huỳnh Thị Thùy Dung will compete at Miss International 2017, to be in November in Japan.
Dung received her licence to compete from the Việt Nam Performing Art Department on Tuesday and is Việt Nam’s official contestant at the international beauty pageant.
Dung and her team, which includes designer Lê Thanh Hòa, have started preparing for the event. She will go to Japan next month. At the pageant’s talent competition, the model plans to play music and paint.
“I’m Miss Việt Nam’s first runner-up and I think I should take the responsibility of representing Vietnamese beauty at the international contest,” Dung said. “I will have to try my best.”
Dung is a fourth-year student at HCM Foreign Trade University. She is 1.72m tall and measures 84-61-90cm. She is fluent in English and Japanese.
First held in 1960, Miss International is among one of the oldest beauty pageants in the world. The first Vietnamese to participate in the contest was Trương Quỳnh Mai in 1995, who entered the top 15 and won the Best Traditional Costume category. — VNS
