HÀ NỘI — The film Kong: Skull Island premiered in Việt Nam’s cinemas on Thursday, a day before it hits international cinemas on March 10.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Kong was shot in the three provinces of Ninh Bình, Quảng Ninh and Quảng Bình. This is the biggest motion picture and first Holywood movie ever to be filmed in Việt Nam.
Hạ Long Bay in Quảng Ninh Province; Tràng An, Tam Cốc-Bích Động and Vân Long in Ninh Bình; and Phong Nha in Quảng Bình are all tourists attractions and were featured in some of the principal footage from the King Kong reboot.
“The look of Việt Nam is gorgeous and mystical at the same time. There’s such a raw, powerful and unspoiled beauty that general audiences haven’t experienced on screen before. There’s a ruggedness and a special beauty in Việt Nam,” director Jordan Vogt-Roberts told Channel News Asia.
