HÀ NỘI — A concert titled “Canada and Việt Nam in Harmony” featuring artists from the two countries will take place on Thursday.
Violinist Veronique Mathieu, an avid contemporary music performer from Canada, and leading artists from the Việt Nam National Academy of Music, including pianist Phạm Quỳnh Trang, violator Nguyễn Thu Bình and the Aurora quartet of Nguyễn Công Thắng, Nguyễn Mỹ Hương, Nguyễn Thu Bình and Nguyễn Hồng Anh will mark the first joint performance in Việt Nam.
Mathieu will first play solo A. Prevost’s Improvisation and N. Milstein’s Paganinian and then join Vietnamese artists in C. Hatzis’s Coming to and G. Wunsch’s Partita Giocoso.
Mathieu has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, South Africa, South America and the United States. She has won awards at the 2012 Eckhardt-Gramatté Contemporary Music Competition and the 2010 Krakow International Contemporary Music Competition and is a three-time winner of the Canada Council Bank of Instruments Competition.
Entry tickets for the concert range from VNĐ200,000 to VNĐ500,000 (US$10-25). The concert will be held at the Việt Nam National Academy of Music, 77 Hào Nam Street, Hà Nội. — VNS
