HÀ NỘI — Phạm Thu Trà, a student in class 6A3 of Thanh Quan Secondary School, won first prize in the Future of Việt Nam and Nuclear Energy, a unique drawing contest held in Hà Nội yesterday.

Phan Thanh Thảo and Nguyễn Thị Thanh Tâm of the same school won second and third prize.

The contest was held on Việt Nam Science and Technology Day, aiming at making the public aware of the nuclear power plants in the public’s eyes. More than 50 students from all primary schools and talent clubs in Hà Nội competed.

Representing young students, Trà said: “My idea for my painting is a nuclear plant will become part of our life, today and tomorrow.”

“Through the contest, we can partly understand children’s dreams of a developed future Việt Nam, with sustainable and secure energy sources,” said Professor Hà Mạnh Thư. “The contest will awaken love and interest for science among students. It will also inspire them in their future career choices, which can involve nuclear industry. Students can therefore contribute to the young, yet developing, nuclear industry of Việt Nam,” he said. — VNS
