Viet Nam News The Goethe Institute will welcome spring with a recital this year.
Soprano singer Hà Phạm Thăng Long, tenor Leo Hiếu Nguyễn and pianist Nguyễn Huy Phương will present song cycles from the Romantic period by the German composer and conductor Robert Schumann.
His melodies will be accompanied by poems from Adelbert von Chamisso and Heinrich Heine, amongst others.
In line with the spring theme, the evening will highlight the many facets of love. Frauenliebe und Leben, sung by Long, tells the story of a first encounter with love, speaking of desire, sorrow and heartache over the loss of the woman’s husband.
The awakening of love in springtime and the accompanying roller coaster of emotions is described in Dichterliebe. The soprano singer and the tenor will round off the evening with duets on love, family and the night. — VNS
