Exhibition honours glorious battles and renowned Vietnamese generals

The exhibition praising the glorious achievements and the renowned generals of the heroic Vietnam People's Army is taking place at the head office of Nhân Dân (People) Newspaper, located on 71 Hàng Trống Street, Hà Nội.

HÀ NỘI An exhibition praising the glorious achievements and the renowned generals of the heroic Vietnam People's Army is taking place at the head office of Nhân Dân (People) Newspaper, located on 71 Hàng Trống Street, Hà Nội.

The interactive exhibition, entitled Những Trận Đánh Nổi Tiếng, Những Vị Tướng Tài Danh (Famous Battles, Renowned Generals), is part of the newspaper's series of events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.

Visitors can learn about famous and pivotal battles during the two resistance wars, such as as the Việt Bắc Campaign (1947), the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign (1954), the Central Highlands Campaign (1975), and the Hồ Chí Minh Campaign (1975), presented as a series of interactive maps.

Of particular interest a series of portraits of 20 renowned generals of the Vietnam People's Army by artist Đỗ Hoàng Tường using watercolours on traditional paper. The artworks vividly depict the portraits of notable generals such as General Võ Nguyên Giáp, General Nguyễn Chí Thanh, General Lê Trọng Tấn, General Hoàng Văn Thái, and General Lê Đức Anh.

The painter said with each brushstroke and colour he was conveying respect, admiration and pride in those who fought for the glorious history of the country.

After the exhibition, the series of paintings will be presented to the Vietnam Military History Museum.

Tech-savvy visitors can scan the QR codes integrated into each painting and battle map to access additional information and visual images about famous battles and the legacies of renowned generals in the nation's history.

"The interactive exhibition Famous Battles, Renowned Generals is an effort by Nhân Dân newspaper to create a fresh experience that better serves and attracts the public,” said Lê Quốc Minh, a member of the Central Party Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhân Dân newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association.

“We believe that if we boldly innovate and engage in creative communication, traditional and historical values will become more relatable and accessible to the younger generation,” he added.

Lieutenant General Nguyễn Văn Đức, Director of the Propaganda Department of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, was full of high praise for the exhibition, saying it was: “An important highlight with profound value, promoting the noble values of the nation's historical tradition of building and defending the country, the heroic tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, and the art of people's warfare in Việt Nam.

"The exhibition is meticulously organised, celebrating the glorious achievements through representative battles in the nation's wars of liberation and defence, which have become symbols of revolutionary heroism.

“It vividly portrays the portraits of the renowned generals of the Vietnam People's Army—individuals who have made history and made significant contributions to the cause of protecting the homeland.

"The exhibition will play an important role in educating the younger generation about the tradition of patriotism, inspiring them to strive in their studies, work and labour, and to protect the socialist homeland of Việt Nam in the new era of our nation," he said. VNS
