HÀ NỘI — Many famous sightseeing spots in Hà Nội are featured in a new music video by Grammy award-winning saxophonist Kenny G.

In his video Going Home, Kenny G leads the audience on a trip around Hà Nội’s famous landmarks, including Hoàn Kiếm Lake, Long Biên Bridge, Temple of Literature and Thăng Long Imperial Citadel.

Produced by Nhân Dân (People) newspaper in collaboration with IB Group Vietnam, the video is special musical production to promote tourism. The video was filmed when Kenny came to Hà Nội to perform last December. His concert in Hà Nội was the launch event of ‘Good Morning Việt Nam’ – an annual charity project held by Nhân Dân newspaper in collaboration with the IB Group.

The idea comes from the programme ‘Good Morning Việt Nam’.

Minh said: “Highly appreciating the humanistic meaning of the programme, legendary musician Kenny G donated a saxophone to contribute to the charity fund.

"Furthermore, he also enthusiastically participated in a music video promoting Hà Nội tourism. We believe that the video will attract more attention than traditional tourism promotional videos."

The production is the first ever music video of Going Home that was shot outdoors. Other Going Home videos were filmed with the artist performing on stage.

President of IB Group Vietnam, Nguyễn Thùy Dương, said that it took eight months to get Kenny G’s approval to take part in the video.

Dương said: “The artist had very strict requirements regarding time, space and technique at the filming locations as well as post-production.

"However, when he arrived at the filming locations, he was very excited. When the final scene completed at the Temple of Literature in late afternoon when the venue lit up, he even asked us if we wanted to record more. After receiving the demo, he was also very satisfied.”

In a card sent to audience, Kenny G wrote: "Hanoi is an incredible city with so many wonderful people! Thank you for your warm welcome. Love, Kenny G."

Copies of this special music production have been given to Hà Nội City leaders, hospitality corporations, airlines and television stations, to spread this meaningful product, contributing to promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism to domestic and international visitors.

Receiving the gift, Chairman of the Hà Nội People's Committee Trần Sỹ Thanh said that the video has touched the hearts of anyone who loves Hà Nội.

"This is a great product to promote the image of the country, especially the image of the capital city of Hà Nội. It also is a meaningful gift to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the city’s liberation (10/10/1954-10/10/2024)," Thanh said.

The video is available on YouTube's official channels and Kenny G's Facebook and Instagram pages as well as Nhân Dân newspaper, and IB Group. — VNS
