QUY NHƠN – Huỳnh Trần Ý Nhi, 21, from Bình Định Province, was crowned Miss World Việt Nam 2023 after outshining 39 other beauties.

Nhi was the second runner-up at the 2023 Bình Định student beauty contest. She also won the “Miss Fashion” title at Miss World Việt Nam 2023.

Nhi is a third-year student at the International University - Việt Nam National University in HCM City. Her fluent English, performing skills, appearance, and educational background impressed the audience.

In the question-and-answer round in the final, Nhi drew the question, "Today's youth deal with a lot of pressure. How did you resolve the problems you encountered?” from designer Lê Thanh Hòa.

"Each of us has different pressures. It's peer pressure for me. I was allowed to learn and better myself because I was born in a time of peace. My concern is that I won't be as good or successful as ‘other families’ child’ - a pejorative term. Everyone starts from a different place and has unique strengths. As a result, instead of comparing ourselves to others, let's consider how to utilise our strengths,” she said.

“‘Pressure makes a diamond,' is a saying that I appreciate. I firmly believe that if we know how to take advantage of that pressure, it will help us advance more quickly and become a sparkling diamond. However, if you don't know how to apply it, it will turn you into a normal pile of rubble."

Nhi will become the representative of Việt Nam to participate in Miss World 2024.

The first and second runner-up spots went to Đào Thị Hiền, 22, from Nghệ An Province and Huỳnh Minh Kiên, 19, from Ninh Thuận, respectively.

The Miss World Việt Nam beauty contest was held for the first time in 2019, aiming at looking for a Vietnamese representative for the Miss World beauty pageant.

In 2023, the final of Miss World Việt Nam took place in Quy Nhơn, Bình Định Province, with the theme “Beauty with a noble purpose”.

On the final night, 40 contestants, who were selected from the preliminary stages and short-listed round, competed in numerous categories, including áo dài (Vietnamese traditional dress), bikini swimsuit, evening gown, and question-and-answer round.

Miss World 2021 Karolina Bielawska and Miss Grand International 2021 Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên joined the final night. VNS
