ĐỒNG NAI — The Đồng Nai Province's People's Committee has directed local authorities to focus on forest management and fire prevention, warning most forests face a level five (extremely dangerous) fire threat.

It has ordered them to increase oversight, ensure there are enough personnel and vehicles for fire prevention activities and put up warning signs and supervision booths in areas facing a high threat of fires.

It has directed the police and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to work on forest protection plans.

The former has been ordered to investigate and find the culprits responsible for causing forest fires and illegal logging and put them in the dock.

The province has a large forest area of more than 197,500ha including 123,400 of natural forests and 48,400 of planted forests.

According to a report by the Department of Forest Protection, more than 1,000 locations face a level five fire threat. — VNS
