HÀ NỘI — The Zhejiang Export Fair in Vietnam will be held in HCM City from December 3-5, showcasing the best products from the Chinese province.
The fair, kicking off at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), will feature 100 booths of well-known businesses, including Alibaba, the global e-commerce ground founded in 1999 by billionaire Jack Ma.
This year's event will for the first time combine both at-site booths and remote booths so foreign businesses can participate in the event, ensuring safe trade connection between enterprises during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At this year's fair, Alibaba will hold a separate workshop themed 'Post-COVID 19 - Grasping the global opportunities with Alibaba.com' on December 4, creating opportunities to interact with leading e-commerce speakers.
The workshop will help Vietnamese exporters who want to expand beyond borders, the organiser said.
The fair is also set to be an opportunity for businesses to seek partnerships and boost economic and trade relations between Zhejiang Province and Việt Nam.
Zhejiang is a coastal province located in southeast China. It has posted rapid economic growth in recent years and boasts economic relations with more than 230 countries and territories around the world.
In 2019, the province's import and export turnover reached US$468 billion, up 8.1 per cent over the same period the year before. Although Zhejiang has been heavily impacted by COVID-19, from January to July, its total import and export value reached $257.2 billion, up 2.3 per cent year-on-year.
In the first half of this year, Zhejiang's imports and exports to ASEAN increased by 16.31 per cent, of which imports from ASEAN increased by 17.19 per cent, and exports to ASEAN rose by 15.85 per cent.
The three-day fair, organised by Việt Nam National Trade Fair & Advertising Company (Vinexad) and the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, is expected to attract 6,000 visitors. — VNS
