THANH HÓA -- A poultry slaughterhouse and processing factory, worth VNĐ300 billion (US$12.9 million), opened its doors in the central province of Thanh Hóa on Thursday.
Financed by Phú Gia Agricultural Product JSC and Master Good Group of Hungary, the factory covers 11,000sq.m in Hoằng Quỳ Commune, Hoằng Hóa District. It has a capacity of 4,500 chickens per hour in the first phase before doubling in the second phase.
In his speech at the launching ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyễn Xuân Cường praised the opening of the factory, saying it would contribute to fostering provincial socio-economic development and the country's agriculture industry.
For his part, provincial People's Committee chairman Nguyễn Đình Xứng said the plant is expected to create stable incomes for workers and produce high value-added agricultural products.
Poultry products produced at the plant will be exported to Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and European countries, he said.
It could expand co-operation in agricultural development between Việt Nam and Hungary, and promote Thanh Hóa's agricultural products to the global market, the chairman said.
Earlier, Phú Gia also co-operated with Master Good Group to build a chicken breeding chain for export as part of efforts to promote modern husbandry and join global product supply chains. -- VNS
