An Phát’s subsidiary becomes indirect parts supplier to Samsung

HÀ NỘI — An Trung Industries, a subsidiary of An Phát Holdings Group, and Elentec Việt Nam Company signed a component manufacturing contract in Hà Nội on Sunday.

An Trung will supply mobile phone plastic parts for Elentec, which is a tier-1 supplier for Samsung. The spare parts will be directly used in Samsung’s phone manufacturing for global supply.

It took more than one year for the company to revamp its technologies, equipment and human resources to meet the strict standards of Elentec and Samsung.

An Trung Industries has a 13,000sq.m factory in the An Phát Complex Industrial Park in the northern province of Hải Dương that cost VNĐ400 billion (US$17.2 million) and has 42 production lines imported from Japan and South Korea.

It produces around 9,000 hi-tech plastic products a month.

The company targeted to focus on customers in electricity and electronic sector which has been its strategic advantage.

Besides Samsung, An Trung also has 10 other big customers, both multinationals and domestic firms in the sector.

Elentec and Samsung have strict criteria for their suppliers in terms of quality, price and delivery schedules.

Mẫn Chí Trung, general director of An Trung Industries, said it is hard to become a supplier to any customer, especially Samsung, the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturer with extremely high quality requirements.

“We will strive to meet all the requirements.”

Samsung’s tests found An Trung’s products meeting its global standards of Samsung for its suppliers.

The company plans to build a coating and plating line.

Đinh Xuân Cường, An Phát Holdings’ general director, said quality made-in-Việt Nam products would enhance the country’s brand name.

“We will not only supply parts to Samsung but also usher in improvements to support industries.”

The group has focused on supporting industries thank to its advantages as the leading plastics manufacturer in Southeast Asia.

It has bought Hà Nội Plastic Company (HPC), set up the Vinfast-An Phát Plastic Auto Parts Company (VAPA) along with Vinfast and increased investment in An Trung Industries.

HPC supplies automobile and motorbike parts to major companies such as Toyota, Honda and Piaggio and electronic components to Panasonic and LG. VAPA will produce plastic parts for automobiles and An Trung Industries will focus on the electrical and electronics sectors.

An Phát Group is also the largest exporter of thin-film packaging in Southeast Asia. — VNS
