HÀ NỘI - Viettel’s Customer Insights software took a bronze medal in the Research and Development category at the ASEAN ICT Awards 2016 held in Brunei on November 25.
This is the first time a Vietnamese product has won a big data international prize. The software surpassed more than 100 products from ASEAN countries and made it to the list of 18 finalists at the competition’s final round in Yangon, Myanmar on August 22.
This Viettel system, built in 2013 on the foundation of a Real-Time Big Data Analytics Platform (vRTAP), collects and analyses telecom customer needs, and to make decisions on telecommunications and e-commerce advertising, based on algorithm models.
Viet Nam also won the gold prize for Monkey Junior of the Early Start Company in the start-up category.
Nguyễn Thành Hưng, deputy minister of information and communications, said he was very proud that Việt Nam had won awards this year, reflecting "the dedication of Việt Nam as an ASEAN member and the creative capacity of Vietnamese enterprises in the ICT sector".
The ASEAN ICT Awards is an initiative adopted at the ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers (TELEMIN) Meeting in 2011.
The award is designed to identify and honour creative and applicable ICT products and solutions; universalise ICT in the community and promote trade ties among ASEAN countries. - VNS
